New Tourism Strategy Targets 35.6 Million Tourists for Malaysia by 2026
A new tourism strategy under the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign aims to attract 35.6 million tourists to the country. To promote its diverse attractions, the campaign will use a fresh logo, mascot, theme song, and airline livery.
New Goals for 2026 Revenue
The new tourism strategy targets 35.6 million international tourists by 2026, which is meant to generate RM147.1 billion in tourism revenue. The initiative focuses on boosting tourism’s contribution to Malaysia’s GDP, enhancing global competitiveness, and creating jobs across sectors like hospitality, transport, retail, and food.
It also promotes the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) as a unified travel destination. The campaign’s new logo, reflecting Malaysia’s vibrant culture and natural beauty, has been unveiled on Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, and AirAsia aircraft to symbolise the country’s readiness to welcome visitors.
Collaborative Partnerships for Events
Malaysia will have key partnerships with several organisations, including Malaysia Aviation Group, AirAsia, Huawei, Mastercard, and Marriott International. These collaborations aim to improve connectivity, expand marketing, and deliver exceptional travel experiences through innovative technologies and promotions.
One of the highlights will be the Sarong Music Run 2025, which will take place on February 8 at the Petronas Twin Towers. The event, which blends heritage and fitness, expects to draw over 20,000 participants. The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture supports the campaign.
This campaign positions Malaysia as a premier global travel destination, blending cultural richness with modern appeal.
