Ministry of Human Resources (Malaysia)
The Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR), known in Malay as Kementerian Sumber Manusia (KESUMA), is a government body in Malaysia responsible for managing the nation’s workforce. Established on 31 August 1957, it oversees various aspects of employment, including skills development, labour relations, occupational safety and health, and social security.
MOHR’s mission is to develop a productive, informative, disciplined, and responsive workforce that adapts to the evolving labour environment, thereby enhancing economic growth and creating job opportunities.
The ministry comprises several departments and agencies, each focusing on specific areas. These include the Department of Labour of Peninsular Malaysia, which addresses employment issues; the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, ensuring workplace safety; and the Department of Skills Development, responsible for vocational training and certification.
In March 2024, the ministry underwent rebranding and adopted the official acronym KESUMA for all official matters.
MOHR continues to play a crucial role in shaping Malaysia’s labour landscape, striving to create a harmonious and progressive working environment for all citizens.
