6 JANUARY 2016 – MITI TO FOCUS ON HUMAN CAPITAL PROGRESS IN 2016
MITI 2016 to-do list covering national, regional and multilateral level initiatives actually kicked-off the 11th Malaysia Plan (RMK11), working with regulators in different industries/sectors that enables SMEs to grow their business through an enabling environment.
National level
- Launch of MITI-related documents : 2nd Aerospace Industry Blueprint, Services Sector Blueprint, National E-commerce Council, Logistics and Trade Facilitation Masterplan, National Export Council, Malaysia Services Development Council, Human Capital Council
- Focus – Research and Technology, Human Capital Development and strenghtening the Local Supply Chain
- MITI’s role in human capital and talent development is to ensure that there will be talents necessary for value-added and knowledge industries being promoted under RMK11
- Trade facilitation : Exporters shall ensure compliance with rules with the introduction of self-certification under Malaysia’s bilateral Free Trade Agreements
- E-permit system implementation : All Approved Permits will be processed electronically
- Integrated Centre for Export : Place where exporters and traders obtain advice, assistance and export-related information
- MIDA will increase engagement with other investment promotion agencies in Malaysia
Regional level
- Trade facilitation : Dismantle non-tariff, barriers in the region by streamlining of Customs processes and procedures, including expanding self-certification programme in Asean
- Asean-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement and establish Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership
Multilateral level
- Implementation of 2nd phase of WTO Information Technology Agreement : Elimination of tariffs for electronics and electrical products
- Hosting the World Economic Forum East Asia Summit
